We are in the process of making adjustments to deadlines for Emmy submissions.

To our NATAS Mid-Atlantic community:

We continue to hope you are all doing well and staying strong during this pandemic.

It has been impressive to watch the resilience of so many of our members as they adapt to new challenges caused by COVID-19 and still continue to deliver for their audiences.

As we prepare to enter April, many members have also faced the challenge of entering submissions for the chapter’s Emmy® Awards due to work restrictions. So today, I want to follow-up to the letter we sent out earlier this week and present new Emmy submission deadlines.

The board, our executive director and myself have all been working to identify the best path forward for this year’s Emmy® Awards. We are still optimistically looking forward to celebrating your talents on September 19, 2020, but to get to that night a lot must happen before then –– including gathering all of your submissions.

At this point, with the understanding that everything happening around COVID-19 is fluid, we are pushing entry deadlines as far back as we can into May. We will now only be working off of two deadline dates and offering more time under the early entry deadline fee to reduce costs for all of our members and participants.

The new deadline dates for the 2020 Emmy call for entries are as follows:

  • Early deadline – Friday, May 1
  • Standard (final) deadline – Friday, May 8

We are continuing to monitor developments so we can identify the needs for any additional changes, including the Crystal Pillar Awards as college and university campuses are closed limiting access to content.

I also want to extend my thanks as so many of you continue to help judge entries for other chapters so they can have their awards, just as they will soon be judging for us. If you have time available or haven’t met your judging requirement, please reach out. We could use your help.

And for our members covering the coronavirus, I leave you with some advice from The Poynter Institute on how to tackle stress during this pandemic.

Be well.
